I NEED OPINIONS PEOPLE!!
So I’m trying to pick a “first dance” song for the reception. This song is called 1234 by Plain White T’s. I love the lyrics but I feel like the song might be a little too fast for the “first dance” song.

Yes, it’s true! My boyfriend and I have been talking about getting married for quite a while and then after going to Georgia to see him last week, we were definitely wanting to do it. We even considered getting married WHILE I was in Georgia, but that means it would’ve been a short, courthouse thing and um…no. My dad would have not been a happy guy.
So on wednesday (aka 3 days ago) we decided that we are actually going to do it. Not only that, but we’re going to do it in less than a month! He’s in the military so his schedule isn’t the most flexible.
So all my friends and family know now and the responses from everyone were surprisingly way more positive than I ever thought would happened considering the time frame. I thought my dad’s side of the family was going to have SOMETHING negative to say, but no!! yay!! The only drama I have is someone sending me literally 20 text messages in a row chewing me out about not being the maid of honor. Ughh, like I’m not stressed out enough already!
So! I got the dress. He’s got his suit/tux. He has my ring, I still have to get his. The location is pretty much booked. Problem is when you try to plan a wedding in 2.5 weeks, not many of the good options are available on a saturday. So the date was originally October 24th, but not it’s the 25th because sundays are more available for venues. The place we’ve picked IS available on the 25th and my mom already talked to the woman at the location yesterday and the woman said it’s completely available and getting everything done in a couple weeks is totally do-able. So my mom just has to call in like 2 hours when they open to book it! Yay! The location was my biggest stress. The woman helping me with my wedding dress said once you get the dress, everything else will fall into place and it really is!
After the wedding, Chris is going back to Georgia to turn in our marriage license and handling all the other paperwork so that I can go over there and we can get our place. Once that’s complete, he’ll be getting more leave time, flying over here, then I’ll be packing up my stuff and we’ll be driving to Georgia. He plans to re-enlist so once this year is up, we’ll be living somewhere else. Maybe Germany. Maybe Virginia. We will see.
But that’s that! Yay! I couldn’t be happier. I just hope most of our friends and family we invited can make it on such short notice. Eeeek!
I leave for Georgia in exactly 57 hours. I know once I get there, I’m not going to want to leave. I’ve been away from him for so long and it’s not possible to make up for that lost time in just a few days. The main thought going through my head is that there’s nothing truly holding me back from just packing up and moving out there. I have bills, yes. That can be taken care of one way or another. I was supposed to start school last week but it was cancelled just a week before it started, so that’s definitely not holding me back. The only real problem is having to leave my job which, for some reason, I would feel bad for just leaving. Mostly because they were so nice about letting me take extra days off to go to Georgia in the first place. But is me leaving that job really such a big issue? I mean they could just find a new chick to take my place, right?
I really feel like there’s nothing here for me. The person I’m in love with is on the other side of the country and I really don’t want to spend anymore time away from him. I’m 22, I feel like I need to just go out and experience things and go by my instincts and do what I want to do. I know my parents would be upset if I left, but I can’t let that be the reason I stay here when I really don’t want to. Life’s too short to just sit around and wait. I’ve been doing that for the past year, so I think it’s time to stop waiting and do what I want. What we want.
He wants me to stay there with him. To have our own place on post and live together. I think once I’m in Georgia, all he would have to do is say, “Jamie, please don’t leave, stay here with me…” And I will.
